Our Aims:

DEAR, which stands for “Drop Everything and Read”, aims to give an opportunity for students to indulge themselves in books. Our DEAR program provides a fifteen-minute silence for our students to be worry free and enjoy the fun of reading. Chinese and English books of different kinds are provided for students.

“Reading without reflecting is like eating without digesting.” The DEAR program also targets to allow students’ minds to connect with the books. Students are encouraged to flourish their creativity by illustrating their reflections in their desired ways on origami paper.

To further promote reading culture among students, they are encouraged to borrow books that they desire to read from the school library. The DEAR program has initiated a “Reading Leaderboard” that greatly enlarged students’ reading volume through peer motivation.

The team has also organised various reading activities, including “Storytime with Teachers”, “Senior Students Sharing Stories”, “Literary Van” and “Book Search Game”. These activities not only enhanced our students’ reading volume, but also stimulated the interpersonal skill and event-organising skill among our librarians.

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” Let books guide us shine in our uniqueness.
