On December 6–7, a delegation of Form 5 students participated in the Model United Nations conference hosted by the School of the Nations. The students were assigned to various specialised committees, each addressing a pressing global issue: the UN Women committee focused on Increasing Girls’ Access to Education in Conflict Zones, the World Trade Organisation committee debated Tariffs and the Question of Free Trade, and the UN Human Rights Council explored Protecting the Rights of Migrant Workers.
Through their involvement, students gained valuable experience in diplomatic dialogue, multilateral negotiation, and resolution drafting. They learned to articulate national positions, collaborate with delegates holding opposing views, and navigate the complexities of international policy-making. The conference strengthened their research, public speaking, and critical thinking skills, while also deepening their understanding of global governance and the interconnected nature of economic, social, and human rights issues.
Our students got outstanding results! F5A Hailey Lei (No. 18) got the Best Position Paper Award, F5A Hailey Lei (No.17) got the Best Speaker Award, and F5C Karina Loi got the Best Collaborator Award!
